Home Video: The Automatic Process

Is your life like an independent film? Well if it needs a soundtrack, you might want to consider Home Video’s latest album The Automatic Process. Home Video mixes indie rock, electronica, and trip hop to produce the perfect mellow mood music. Their album rides on the influence wave of groups like Portishead and Massive Attack. Subtle vocals take the back seat against low pulsating beats and steady rhythms. They don’t come close to being a powerful presence, yet they don’t distract from the music. They enhance it in minimalist fashion.

Their previous album, No Certain Night or Morning got more plays on my computer than just about anything else back in 2006. Suffice to say I was super excited to learn about this new LP. Unfortunately I think it falls prey to my own personal expectations being too high, but it is an excellent album none-the-less. Very chill, very catchy, very enjoyable listening.

Oh, and the album cover is JAWESOME!
