Lykke Li: Wounded Rhymes

Wounded Rhymes is the second full length album from Swedish songstress Lykke Li. Produced in Stockholm under guidance of Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn & John, this album takes a dark turn compared to her first. But in a good way.

The first track starts things off strong and the second track, I Follow Rivers, which is also the second single, is equally great. Shortly after we have the track Unrequited Love, a classy as well as catchy new take on a oldies-esque melody. Immediately following that is the foot-stomping sex-infused tribal-drum-fest of Get Some. It is probably the most stand-out track of the album and it is jawesome™. Several tracks later we also have the super catchy Jerome. Then, before you know it, 10 tracks have concluded in just under 41 minutes and you can’t wait to listen again.

I still find it quite difficult to pronounce "Lykke Li" correctly, even after watching a handy youtube video in which a quirky Swedish girl with funny accent tries to provide instruction.
